November 01, 2003 The three priorities of the month

NANOWRIMO! NANOWRIMO! NANOWRIMO! NANOWRIMO! NANOWRIMO! NANOWRIMO! NANOWRIMO!

YAY!!!

I am excited, if you couldn't tell. It's here! Nanowrimo! National Novel Writing Month!

It doesn't even sound that hard to me anymore. I feel like I'm going to finish early again. I almost feel like I can write 2 stories this month. I have 3 ideas for a story.. the whole good vs. evil thing that I'm going to start on tonight, a whole porn star thing that I've been wanting to write for a while, and a short story about soulmates that I'm going to enter in a contest. So I think I'm all set. Awww yeah.

I have three main priorities for the month of November. They are the big things that I am going to focus on, and they will get done.

1. Work

2. Work out

3. Nanowrimo

And there you have it. Those are the 3 things that I will make sure will take over my life for the next month. Let's take a look at them, shall we?

1. Work.

So, tonight was Halloween. Everyone went costume shopping and gathered with friends to get their party on. Me? I made burritos, mopped the floor, emptied the Death sauce with glee, etc. But that's okay. I made some money, at least. And besides, isn't 24 a little old to be doing Halloween stuff anyway?

Yah. I know it isn't.

Anyway. I am really getting the gist of work now. I've been trained in a lot of stuff and I really feel comfortable there. I don't feel like they feel I'm socially retarded, which is always a good thing.

So, in November, working is going to, of course, be my top priority. But I don't think I'll be working much more than 25-30 hours a week, so I'll have lots of time to do the other stuff.

The manager I worked with tonight was dressed as Jack White. And it's really quite interesting how quickly I developed a crush on him during the night. There's something about a boy with lipstick.

2. Working out.

Oh my. I've gained about 5 pounds in the past 2 weeks. I haven't been working out as much and I've just been stuffing my face to capacity. But! It's November now. Almost December. And then January. If I leave Austin at the same weight I came here with, I'll be pissed. I just don't want that to happen.

So today I went to Central Market and stocked up on some Nano food, which consists of rice cakes, celery, apples, grapes, bread, fajita meat, steak, potatoes.. all kinds of fun things. And I'm going to eat them. With glee!

As a sidenote, while at Central Market, I was getting some kind of fruit when this dude in the Scream scary person costume came up to me and offered me some fruit. I almost screamed. Seriously. The theme to Friday the 13th was playing in the store and it was just all too much. I told the guy, "I'm sorry, but you just scared the crap out of me. I don't want your fruit." And then he was sad.

3. Nanowrimo.

I really did want to start tonight, but I just worked for 7 hours and my feet hurt and I'm tired and I have to work again at 12 tomorrow, and then I can't stay up late tomorrow night because I have to work at 11 on Sunday! It's just wrong.

But Nanowrimo is going to rock, and I'm going to kick its ass, and there ya go.

Last year during Nanowrimo, I was going through the whole craptastic break-up process and freaking out about graduating and crap, and I still got it done. I also ate a whole lot of pizza, popcorn with lots of butter, and chocolate. Yeah, that's bad. That's why I loaded up on good stuff this year.. I can't afford to lose myself in pizza and popcorn, as much as I'd like to.

So yeah. That's the stuff. I think I'm gonna go to bed now.

One more thing! The store has XM Radio, and there was this awesome station playing all these really cool songs that I haven't heard in years. I think I drove everyone crazy with the whole "OHMYGOD I LOVE THIS SONG!" tonight.

Here's a few examples:

1. Mmm Mmm Mmm - Crash Test Dummies

2. Politik - Coldplay

3. No Rain - Blind Melon

4. Number 1 Crush - Garbage

5. Rusty Cages - Soundgarden

My short term memory sucks.

Anyway. I'm going to bed now.

On another side note, I think I'm developing an intense passion for Martin Sheen. Just so we all know that.

"I mean, seriously.. I reread some of this diary last night and all the questions I ask myself, and everything I have pondered, and all my worries that I've had about graduating.. they've all led up to going to Austin. Going to Austin might not be a miracle cure, but it's something different. And good god almighty, do I need something different to lift me from my meager and mediocre existence."
